PORTFOLIO-VAUGHAN BROOKFIELD

We GET QUITE a few e mails  from budding photographers that appear from out of the blue, with IMAGES attached for an appraisal OR REQUESTS FOR TIPS ON HOW TO GET ‘PUBLISHED’. It’s an honor and privilege TO BE IN THAT POSITION, BUT AT TIMES  IT CAN BE CHALLENGING WHEN HAVING TO MAKE HARD DECISIONS. hopefully over the years most of our choices have been right. But every now and then, ITS REALLY EASY, the quality is obvious straight away. That’s where Vaughan’s photography sits.. HIS FIRST SUBMISSION TO US RESULTED IN A COVER SHOT!. Heres A SAMPLE OF some of his PERSONAL favorites. Phil Erickson

21/03/11- We had spent the whole day in the backcountry outside of Seattle, Washington State building this jump. We had only just finished when a big storm rolled in. Nick Brown rushed to get a hit in before we had to find our way home on the sleds. He sent it way too big, probably over 100 feet.

7/09/2011- I had planned to shoot this photo for a while with Joram Makuru. I wanted to simplify the shot. Snow Park was always so busy and it was hard to get a clean pipe shot. I convinced Joram to stay behind and keep hitting the spot until he couldn’t see the pipe wall at all. He had no gloves on either. What a trooper.

23/01/10- Jye Kearney was on fire this year. We had been shooting on the streets of Minnesota in -30 C temperatures for days and everyone was getting tired but Jye was going for it. I put a red gel on for this shot and asked Jye to jump right over the stairs and me, to get the feeling of the forest almost folding in around us. I’m glad he didn’t land on my face

This was for a shootout battle, NZ versus Australia. We had been using all sorts of farming props and it was a really fun shoot with some styling and good direction. I shot this with hard backlight to really emphasize the snow.

7/09/2011- This was shot the same evening as the hand plant. As Joram hiked the pipe we got an amazing red glow above us.

4/03/2009 – I love experimenting, trying new angles, and a different prospective. I shot this back in Tahoe when we were filming for ‘Made you Look’. I really wanted to shoot half underwater to get acquired viewpoint. Rider – Ben Vercauteren

3/08/2012- This was one of those fun trips with your mates to the clubbie’s. We had heard of snow on the way and headed to Round Hill. When on the ridge that day, I headed across to the opposite ridge line in the hope of shooting Nick Hyne against the lake. I shot this with a 400mm, and it compressed the scene beautifully.
