#16 Sept/October 1997

RIDER: Quentin Robbins
LOCATION: Mt. Lyford
PHOTOGRAPHER: Stan Hill

Quentin Robbins gets his second cover, and for the first time the entire issue is printed in colour, without any B&W sections. We visit Canterbury club field Mt. Olympus with Mel Thomas, Andre Mortimer, Olly Burke, and Joel Westcot. Andre Mortimer also shows us a cliff drop front 3 in “Trick Tip”. “Ohau Revisited” is just that, a return trip 4 years after our original one, this time with Shaun McComb, Nick Bourke, Tony Howarth, and Vicki Course. There’s an interview with freestyle legend Olly Brunton, and the photo gallery “NZ 97” includes sick shots of Nick Bourke at Treble Cone, Mark Summers at Turoa, Quentin Robbins spinning like a cat, Mark Brownlee, Aaron Jamieson, Deni Bevin, JMS, Dylan Butt and Trev Ponting. “Mt. Cook Lines it Up” looks at how Coronet Peak has been stepping up to cater specifically to snowboarding, and “Fast Forward” features Heidi Godfrey and Rick Clairmonte.
